Michael A. Claxton

Michael A. Claxton joined the firm in 1995 and has been a shareholder since 1999. He concentrates his practice in the areas of estate planning, probate, guardianships, elder law and business/corporate matters. He is admitted to the Washington and Oregon state bar associations, as well as to the Western Washington U.S. District Court.

Published decisions include Casterline v. Roberts, 168 Wn.App. 376 (2012), as well as In re Trustee’s Sale of Real Property of Whitmire, 134 Wn.App. 440 (2006).

Mr. Claxton received his law degree from Willamette University, graduating cum laude. He also has a Masters of Business Administration from Portland State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Indiana University.

Prior to entering the legal profession, he worked as an editor in the trade publication field, serving as managing editor of Metal Construction News and later Printing Impressions magazines, and then as editor of Package Printing & Converting magazine.

Mr. Claxton is on the board of directors for the Kelso-Longview Chamber of Commerce and the Southwest Washington YMCA. He is an avid runner, having completed 17 marathons and two Ironman competitions since joining the firm, as well as many more half marathons and half Ironman triathlons.

He is married to Lucia Claxton, and has two adult children, Marcus and Maria.
